It’s amazing to think that this book was written in the 1930’s it still has amazing resonance. At a seminar last week, one of the delegates said this book saved her from bankruptcy and helped her turn her life around and is now building a large and growing business. I hope these help you too:

1, Vision and Mission: Define it and be clear, the key factor here. is to ensure Vision is backed up with the emotion of DESIRE – that is, if the Desire is to have £ then the amount must be specified or the Desire turns into a wish He also recommended that once the goal is achieved, be clear whet service or good will be rendered in turn for the achieving of the goal.

2, Faith: Based on a self-confidence that borders on religion. Even if a ”failure” occurs, Carnegie suggested that every failure contains within it the seed of an equivalent advantage. He goes on to suggest that every ”successful ” person is in proportion to their mastery of failures.

3, Auto-suggestion:In the form of affirmations and visualization. These techniques support the key principles of DESIRE and FAITH. Hill also encourages the visualizing of the good or service you will render in return

4, Specialized Knowledge: Acquire the knowledge required to fill a NICHE.This includes surrounding yourself with specialists

5, Imagination: Anything a man can conceive, he can achieve. He suggested 2 parts:

5.1 Synthetic imagination – used in arranging old ideas, concepts into new combinations.

5.2 Creative imagination – taking ideas from the ”universal world” that any mind can tap into.

6.1 Courage

6.2 Self Control

6.3 Strong sense of justice

6.4 Definiteness of decisions and plans

6.5 Pleasing personality with sympathy and understanding

6.6 Mastery of detail

6.7 Habit of doing more than paid for

6.8 Willingness to co-operate and assume responsibility

6.9 Emphasis on Quality, Quantity and Spirit of Service

8, Persistence: This is as such an action as it is a principle and as such it reinforces FAITH. In developing Persistence, Hill prescribed ” a definite purpose backed by a burning desire for its fulfilment, a ”definite plan”. Friendship and alliance with encouraging people, and a willingness to shut out negative and discouraging influences.

9, Master Mind: ”Co-ordination of knowledge and effort in the spirit of harmony between 2 or more people for the attainment of a definite purpose’ ‘Stephen Covey calls this think ”win-win” and synergizing.

10, Sex transmutation: One key is to harness sexual energy and redirect it towards your Purpose.

11, The Subconscious: It is your responsibility to ensure positive emotions constitute the dominant influence in your mind. The 7 positive emotions are: Desire, Faith, Love, and Sex. Enthusiasm, Romance and Hope. The 7 negative emotions are: Fear, Jealousy, Hatred, Revenge, Greed, Superstition and Anger.

12, The Brain: Likened the brain to a radio set, it both transmits and receives. Vibration of other minds are picked up from the ether and we all make our own signals stronger through positive emotion.

13, Sixth Sense: ” The medium of contact between the finite mind of man and Infinite Intelligence ” and the point at which the mind of man contacts the Universal Mind.
